Meet the Artist
Hi, I'm Maria Donis, the artist behind MAD Artisan.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I create artisanal creations that celebrate the quiet beauty found in nature, memory, and everyday wonder. My work is inspired by winding trails, native plants, changing skies, and the small details that often go unnoticed but leave a lasting impression.
Sustainability is at the heart of my creative process. Whenever possible, I choose environmentally conscious materials and thoughtful techniques that honor both craftsmanship and the world around us. I believe art, including my handcrafted gifts, should be made with intention, created to endure, and cherished for years to come.
My collections feature handcrafted watercolor paintings and gold-filled jewelry designed to become lasting companions rather than fleeting trends. Each piece is created by hand, embracing the subtle variations that make every unique handicraft one of a kind.
Through MAD Artisan, I hope to share my whimsical perspective of Puerto Rico and inspire others to slow down, notice the beauty around them, and carry a little piece of that wonder into their daily lives.
As the studio grows, my vision is to expand MAD Artisan into a welcoming space that celebrates handmade craftsmanship, supporting fellow artisans who share a passion for sustainability, creativity, and meaningful design.

Our Story
I founded MAD Artisan in 2023 to channel my passion for the artistry of handcrafted items and to offer artisanal creations. After a period of unemployment, I set up my business in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and have since relocated to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. My goal is to share my artistic vision and personality through my unique handicrafts, which draw from a diverse range of styles and mediums. I take pride in crafting unique pieces that serve as beautiful handcrafted gifts, bringing joy to people's homes.
